Meeting on global warming

BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) -- Concerns over the problem of global warming, Germany and Thailand today held a meeting in Bangkok and agreed that the people's behavior should be adjusted to response the climate change. The Office of Natural Resources and Environment Policy and Planning has cooperated with the Bonn-based German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) in holding the meeting to prepare for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for the years between 2015 – 2050. Raweewan Bhuridej, secretary-general of the Office, said the German government and the GIZ have provided a four-year budget and 17 Thai provinces nationwide have been selected in making preparations for the climate change. Information on weather in the past and present will be analysed and a possibility that the weather change could take place in future would be considered, said Ms Raweewan. Plans have been drafted and they will be implemented and people in the communities will be asked to join the programme, she said. The programme will be implemented throughout Thailand as soon as possible, Ms Raweewan added. (TNA)
