BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - Army Chief General Chalermchai Sittisart affirms that there have been no members of the extremist Islamic State (IS) sneaking into Thailand, urging the public not to panic.
In response to reports in Malaysia that some IS members might have fled into the Thai Far South, General Chalermchai stressed on Friday that there have been no IS members sneaking into the Thai territory.
The Thai army chief told journalists that nothing has to be worried, confirming that some suspected persons found at natural border passes are not IS members.
The Thai army chief said he has discussed with Commanding General of the 4th Army Area Command Lieutenant General Piyawat Nakvanich, who is also Director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward, and agreed that there has nothing to be worried and the public should not panic.
