Big haul of meth pills seized in Lampang

LAMPANG, May 8 (TNA) – The police seized about one million methamphetamine pills and seven kilogrammes of crystal meth or “ice” in a pickup truck at a checkpoint in the northern province of Lampang. Lampang governor Suwat Promsuwan and senior police officials told a news conference at the police checkpoint after the seizure of 1,156,000 meth pills and seven kilogrammes of ice with the street value of around 230 million baht. The Chiang Rai-registered pickup truck was stopped at the police checkpoint for searched and detected the illegal drug, hidden in a modified compartment at the back of the truck. The driver travelled with his wife and a seven-year-old, saying they were going to the seaside town of Chon Buri on holidays. He did not know about the illegal drug, hidden inside the vehicle but he admitted that he was hired by a man to drive this pickup truck several times. The couple were charged with having the narcotic type 1 in their possession with an intention to sell. (TNA)
