Hong Kong investors visit Thailand
BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA) -- Hong Kong investors visit Thailand for a forum on possibilities for greater engagement as part of China’s One Belt On Road initiative.
Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak presided over a seminar on Thailand-Hong Kong-Shanghai Strategic Partnership on One Belt One Road at a Bangkok hotel on Monday.
He stressed with Hong Kong investors Thailand’s economic potentials and investment opportunities.
The forum gives an opportunity for over 300 Thai government agencies and the private sector to meet and exchange ideas with private companies from Hong Kong and representatives of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
Mr Somkid briefed the Chinese visitors about trade and investment promotion policies, namely Thailand 4.0 initiative and the promotion of the 10 ‘S-Curve’ industries as well as the Eastern Economic Corridor.
He highlighted the potential links between Thailand’s initiatives and China’s ‘One Belt One Road policy as well as the role Hong Kong could play to facilitate such links. Thailand and Hong Kong strategic partnership would be a significant jigsaw in enabling the success of the One Belt One Road scheme, Mr Somkid said.
The event took place after Mr Somkid in late April led a Thai delegation to visit the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China to discuss its management and the private sector.
