40 people wounded in Pattani’s car bomb at Big C supermarket
PATTANI, May 9 (TNA) - About 40 people were wounded in a car bomb at the Big C supermarket in the violence-plagued province of Pattani Tuesday afternoon.
Among all of the injured, two people were severely wounded, said Col Pramote Prom-in, spokesman for Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4.
After a suspicious pickup truck parked at the site, the spokesman said, officials were trying to alert passer-by to stay away from the area and then the bomb went off right after the warning. Most of the injured sustain minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Pattani governor Weeranun Pengchan said that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad is inspecting the car bomb site and gathering evidence.
According to footage of a CCTV surveillance camera, two men parked a Yala-registered pickup truck at Big C supermarket and left the vehicle immediately. The duo were picked up by motorcycles before the bomb exploded around 2 pm. (TNA)
