Thai ombudsman visits SKorea for AOA meeting

BANGKOK, May 15 (TNA) - Thai Ombudsman General Withawat Rajatanant is visiting South Korea to attend a meeting of the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) during May 14-20. Prior to his departure, Withawat told journalists in Bangkok that during the one-week meeting, he will exchange views with his counterparts from other Asian countries. Withawat said he is also scheduled to deliver a speech on his office's probes on people's complaints against government authorities to ensure public justice. Besides, he and and his entourage will also brief the other participants on the content of the new Thai Constitution concerning the authority and mandate of his office, as well as its future development. According to the Thai Ombudsman, he will also meet the top Thai envoy and the Thai labor councilor in South Korea to follow up solutions to problems earlier raised by Thai workers in South Korea and to discuss emerging issues.
