Thailand, Laos strengthens military ties

BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) -- Thailand’s Chief of Defence Forces Gen Surapong Suwana-adth meets Laos Deputy Minister of National Defence Suvon Luongbunmi for discussion on the plan to enhance military cooperation. The Lao delegation is in the mid of Thailand visit from May 20 to 22 as official guests of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. A guard of honor ceremony was held at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters in Bangkok on Monday. Both sides agree to expand their cooperation in training, education and border security. Military cooperation would extend to the realms of humanitarian relief operation, military medics and multi-lateral military drills. General Surapong thanked the Lao military for paying the official visit and reaffirmed Thailand armed forces’ commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation. (TNA)
