PM calls for synergy to ease floods
BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is seeking close cooperation between state agencies to address traffic congestions and floods amid severe weather and torrential downpours in Bangkok.
Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Gen Prayut has urged the Bangkok governor, district chiefs, and traffic police to work together on handling traffic problems and flood situations following persisting downpours. He asked them to pay special attention to low-lying and flood-prone areas in the capital city.
Also, Lt Gen Sansern said Gen Prayut underlined the process of waste disposal in waterways. He suggested responsible units launch campaigns seeking cooperation from members of the public and local communities to help remove blockages and keep the waterways clear of trash.
On Monday, the prime minister will visit the Phra Khanong water pumping situation and nearby flooded areas to gain first-hand information regarding water management and community involvement. (TNA)
