PRESIDENT VISITS KUJANG FERTILIZER PLANT

Jakarta, Feb. 10 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono made a visit to Kujang fertilizer plant in Karawan District, West Java Province, on Tuesday.
Accompanied by several ministers including Agriculture Minister Anton Apriantono and Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, President Yudhoyono left the State Palace at 12.30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and was expected to arrive at the fertilizer plant at 2 pm WIB.
The president's visit was in accordance with the government's program to strengthen the food resilience, one of the seven priorities in the national development programs set by the government in 2009.
The government is determined to export rice in 2009 if the domestic rice stock is adequate.
Commenting on the recent subsidized fertilizer scarcity, the head of state said that it had happened because the demands for fertilizers increased significantly in line with the government's program to intensify agricultural products, while the volume of fertilizer product did not rise.
