THAI PREMIER TO VISIT RI ON FEB 20

Jakarta, Feb 11 (ANTARA) - Thai Prime Minister Abhisit
Vejjajiva is scheduled to visit Indonesia on February 20 to hold talks with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The two leaders would discuss mutually beneficial cooperation to enhance bilateral trade and strengthen regional security, visiting Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Pirornya said after a meeting with Yudhoyono at the presidential office here on Wednesday.
This will be Vejjajiva's first visit in Indonesia since becoming prime minister on December 15 last year.

The Thai opposition leader was appointed to the premiership in a special parliamentary vote, ending months of political turmoil engulfing the country.

At the 30-minute meeting, Kasit and Yudhoyono also discussed preparations for the ASEAN Summit to be held in Thailand on February 27-March 1 this year.

On the occasion, Kasit expressed gratitude to President Yudhoyono for his readiness to attend the summit.

As ASEAN chairman, Thailand needed Indonesia's support to implement the ASEAN Charter, Kasit said.

ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
