RI EMBASSY TO PUBLISH INDONESIA-AUSTRALIA EDUCATION BULLETIN

Brisbane, Feb 11 (ANTARA) - The education section of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra is to publish an Indonesia-Australia education bulletin beginning next March for the thousands of Indonesians currently studying in Australia and interested Australians.

To be published once every four months, the bilingual (English-Indonesian) bulletin was expected to be a source of up-to-date information about schools in Australia and Indonesia, Aris Junaidi, the education attache at the Indonesian embassy, said on Wednesday.

The bulletin would also provide information on scholarships, education in Australia, and significant bilateral cooperative schemes in the education sector needing follow-ups, he said.
"One of the objectives of publishing the bulletin is to give an opportunity to teachers, students, observers, as well as Indonesian and Australian alumni to share their experiences," Junaidi said.

He added that the bulletin would also contain information on Australian and Indonesian scholarships, the agendas of the education section of the Indonesian embassy, the Indonesian Students Association in Australia (PPIA), Indonesian Students and Researchers Association in Australia (HPPIA).

In the bulletin's "Student Corner," for example, readers would find news and articles about personal experiences of Indonesian students in Australia, the results of research work, and Australia's education system.

Junaidi said the bulletin, to be published on line on the Indonesian Embassy's website and in printed form, was one of the embassy's efforts to follow up a memorandum of understanding on education and training cooperation signed by the education ministers of the two countries on November 10, 2008.

The printed form of the bulletin would also be sent to all Indonesian consulate and consulate general offices across Australia, the National Education Ministry office in Jakarta, the Directorate General of Higher Education office in Jakarta, and to dozens of universities in Australian and Indonesia.

He said around 18,000 Indonesian students were currently studying at various education institutions, including eight best universities in Australia.

The eight universities are Australian National University (ANU), Melbourne University, Queensland University, University of Sydney, Adelaide University, Monash University, University of New South Wales, and the University of Western Australia.
