Somali pirates about to release S. Korean crew
SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- Somali pirates will soon release five South Koreans and 18 Filipinos who have been held captive since their ship was seized off the coast of the African nation nearly three months ago, South Korean government officials said Friday.
"Negotiations (on the release) have virtually been concluded and only technical
procedures, including the remittance of ransom, remain," a foreign ministry
official said without revealing the amount of money involved.
He added all the crew are unharmed.
The Japanese-owned ship was hijacked last November in the pirate-infested Gulf of
Aden.
