Somali pirates-S Korean abductees-release

SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) -- Five South Koreans and 18 Filipinos who had been held captive by Somali pirates off the coast of Kenya were released the previous night, a source in the African nation said Friday.

Seoul officials had said earlier Friday that the release of the 23 captives, who
had been held hostage since Nov. 15, was imminent as negotiations on the release
and ransom were almost complete.
The Kenyan source, who requested anonymity, said all crew were released unharmed
late Thursday.
The Japanese-owned ship was hijacked nearly three months ago in the
pirate-infested Gulf of Aden.
