BAKRIELAND TO INTEGRATE SYSTEM OF RISK MANAGEMENT
Jakarta, Feb 15 (ANTARA) - PT Bakrieland Development Tbk plans to integrate a risk management system in all its units to assure achievement of its financial target.
"We have long implemented a risk management system, but this time we will integrate it in all our business lines," the company's independent commissioner, Kanaka Puradiredja, said here on Sunday.
Kanaka said all Bakrieland businesses from infrastructure to residential and property development would implement risk management starting from the lowest level of management.
In connection with it, he said, Bakrieland recently invited risk management experts to a workshp to share their experience.
He said through the workship the management hoped they would get directives for implementation to increase the company's revenues, assets and profitabilty.
Bakrieland by the end of 2008 was predicted to have booked a revenue of more than Rp1 trillion or above Rp782 billion it gained in the year before and hoped it could raise it this year.
The company's chief administrative officer, Achmad Az'har, meanwhile said risk management was very important in view of a variety of risks business opportunities also brought along.
Citing an example, he said that toll road development used to have the biggest risk because of its land acquisition challenges but it has been no more after the government gave assurance to share the risk.
He said the land acquisition problem carried the biggest risk and therefore the management decided to impose a careful policy with regard to anticipating land price and in that respect strong control was needed to avoid burden.
He said all guidances and technical framework must be followed one by one from the beginning so that a control measure could be taken later to mitigate risks in the field.
He said in view of the risk in property development the management therefore had been very careful in choosing vendors for the design and construction of the Bakrie Tower to assure quality and fulfillment of completion schedule.
