Seoul shares down 3.04 pct in late morning
SEOUL, Feb. 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks tumbled 3.04 percent late Tuesday
morning as investors remained jittery over worsening global economic conditions,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) plunged 35.78 points to
1,139.69 as of 11:20 a.m.
Market leader Samsung Electronics, top steelmaker POSCO and other large-cap
issues were hit hard by heavy selling by foreign investors and institutions, they
said.
The local currency was trading at 1,443.85 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., down 16.35 won from Monday's close.
