PUBLIC HOUSING MINISTRY PROPOSES RP6.9 TRILLION AS REAL SECTOR STIMULUS

Jakarta, Feb 16 (ANTARA) - The Public Housing Ministry proposed Rp6.9 trillion for five programs to the Finance Minister in the framework of stimulating the real sector.
"The programs are expected to provide jobs for 936,000 people," Secretary of the Public Housing Ministry Iskandar Saleh said after a hearing with Commission VI of the House of Representatives here on Monday.
Iskandar said at least 207,960 people were workers directly related to housing sector, while another 728,040 people could work in the complementing industries.
The proposed programs were worth Rp6.9 trillion including Rp 390 billion in added value tax covered by the government, building rental program Rp75 billion, liquidity facility for the principal loan Rp4.3 trillion, moratorium of house ownership credit for sacked employees Rp150 billion, and the development of infrastructure Rp1.3 trillion.
Of the nine proposed programs for the real sector stimulus, two were immediately approved such as the building f housing infrastructure for the military/police, workers, university students and special homes for fishermen, workers in border areas and the management of natural resources.
The two approved programs would create jobs for 14,400 workers, he said
