Bahrainis set for Asian Games
Manama, Sep. 12 (BNA): The first batch of the Bahrain delegation will head to Turkmenistan today (Wednesday) for the Fifth edition of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, tips off in Ashgabat on September 17.
The games, which will run until September 27, will see Bahrain compete in three sports disciplines – jiu jitsu, taekwondo and wrestling.
The jiu jitsu team will be the first to touch down on Ashgabat. The squad includes administrator Ahmed Janahi, coach Reza Monfaradi, athletes Ali Ibrahimi, Mohammed Abu Idris, Ahmed Mansoor, Nejad Al Gusaibi and Ali Monfaradi.
Head Coach Tawfeeq Nuwaiser will lead the taekwondo team, which departures on Friday. The team includes trio athletes – Wala Al Dossary, Juana Mousa and Jumana Mousa.
Adam Batirov will be the only athlete representing Bahrain in wrestling. Batirov, the former Asian wrestling champion, is being coached by Mahmood Magomedov.
Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation president Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa will head the Bahrain delegation, which also includes Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, director Fawaz Shamsan, international affairs director Fajer Jassim, administrator Lounes Madene, media representatives Mohammed Lori, Mohammed Al Rumaili, Ali Al Halwachi and physician Dr Francisco Chapman.
