Serial murder suspect admits to more killing, toll rises to 8

(ATTN: UPDATES with more details)
ANSAN, South Korea, Feb. 17 (Yonhap) -- Prosecutors said Tuesday a serial murder
suspect who admitted to killing seven women over the past two years has confessed
to murdering another woman.
The 38-year-old suspect, identified as Kang Ho-sun, admitted to killing seven
victims, including five reported missing between December 2006 and January 2007.
He confessed to the crimes after his initial arrest last month on charges of
kidnapping and murdering a female university student.
The Suwon District Prosecutors' Office said investigators are in the process of
exhuming the corpse of a woman believed to be the eighth victim, murdered in
September 2006.
A prosecution official said in a press briefing that Kang confessed he killed the
23-year-old female employee of Jeongseon County, Gangwon Province, around 7 p.m.
on Sept. 7, 2006, about 11 hours after he kidnapped her. He said he kidnapped the
woman, identified by her family name of Yun, by car at around 7:50 a.m. in
Jeongseon-eup, Jeongseon County while she was heading for work.
The official said Kang told prosecutors she was his first victim.
The prosecution will investigate the exact motive behind the murder of Yun and
other crimes possibly committed by Kang before indicting him Sunday.
