King’s initiatives to promote peace, inter-faith dialogue hailed

Los Angeles, Sep. 16 (BNA): Vice-Chairman Board of Trustees Chairman and Executive Director of the Isa Cultural Centre, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, has lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s encouragement of efforts to promote peace and dialogue among cultures, stressing that the establishment of the King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence will contributing to consolidating the principles of social co-existence and cohesion among various peoples. He was speaking on the sidelines of the Isa Cultural Centre’s participation in the ceremony to launch the “Bahrain Declaration Document”, and the inaugurate the King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence which includes a museum that showcases historical and modern documents bespeaking religious freedom and peaceful coexistence in the Kingdom of Bahrain. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Board Chairman of the Royal Charity Organisation, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the ceremony on behalf of HM King Hamad, the patron of the event which was organised by the “This Is Bahrain” here. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa said that the Isa Cultural Centre’s participation was in line with HM the King’s vision to highlight Bahrain’s deep-rooted values of religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence. He stressed that HM King Hamad’s initiative to launch the global centre emanates from Bahrain’s long history in pluralism, respect for the other and tolerance, the kingdom’s long-standing distinctive features which have been strengthened thanks to the wisdom of the Al Khalifa rulers. The Shaikh Isa Cultural Centre’s pavilion at the exhibition organized by the “This Is Bahrain” attracted visitors from different nationalities and ethnicities, who hailed Bahrain’s active role to promote openness and respect for the other, as well as to extend bridges of understanding between peoples of the world. HM the King’s initiative to launch the King Hamad Global Centre for Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-Existence gained the local, US and international interest as the event was attended representatives of the White House, as well as religious leaders, media, political and social figures and representatives of various social and religions in Bahrain. The attendees participated in signing the “Bahrain Declaration Document”, reflecting their support to the kingdom’s efforts aimed at putting forward a global approach to promote peace.
