PRESIDENT TO PRESENT RP1.4 TRILLION IN PNPM AID TO E JAVA
Tuban, Feb 18 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to hand Rp1.4 trillion worth of direct financial assistance under the government's National Self-reliant Community Empowerment Program (PNPM) to East Java here on Wednesday.
The financial assistance would be presented to East Java Governor Soekarwo at a ceremony at Tuban's town square at 9 am local time. Also to be turned over on the occasion would be various assistance packages in kind for local farmers and poor people.
At the same time, the president would witness the symbolic presentation of Small-holder's Business Credits (KURs) by six state-owned banks to local micro businesses, and dedicate six infrastructure projects in East Java.
The Rp1.4 trillion worth of direct financial assistance under the PNPM program was intended for 38 districts/municipalities in East Java.
The packages would consist of 160 tons of paddy seeds worth Rp920 million, 13 tons of corn seeds worth Rp520 million, one ton of soybean seeds worth Rp12 million, 400 tons of NPK fertilizer worth Rp2.4 billion, 200 tons of NPK Phonska fertilizer worth Rp1.2 billion, 200 tons of organic fertilizer worth Rp317 million, and 5,350 packages of basic necessaries for poor people in Tuban and Lamongan districts.
On the occasion, the chief executives of six state-owned banks would symbolically hand Small-holder's Business Credits (KURs) to micro enterprises in the region.
Bank BRI would present KURs totaling Rp1.6 trillion to 343,688 debtors, Bank Mandiri Rp159.17 billion to 359 debtors, Bank BNI Rp122.79 billion to 1,066 debtors, Bank Bukopin Rp90.4 billion to 293 debtors, Bank Syariah Mandiri Rp9.58 billion to 366 debtors and Bank BTN Rp29.3 billion to 176 debtors.
The infrastructure projects to be dedicated by the presdient by signing plaques were the Rp35.72-billion Bajulmati bridge in Malang, Rp24.17 billion drinking water supply systems in the districts of Bondowoso, Sidoarjo, Probolinggo, and Madium.
