Hyosung's Q4 profit more than doubles on weaker won

SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Yonhap) -- Hyosung Corp., a South Korean maker of textiles and
heavy machinery, said Wednesday its net profit more than doubled in the final
quarter of 2008, as a weaker currency boosted its sales.
Hyosung earned 79.7 billion won (US$54.2 million) in the October-December period
last year, compared with a profit of 36.8 billion won the previous year, the
company said in a regulatory filing.
Fourth-quarter operating profit soared 85 percent to 129.5 billion won. Sales
rose 30.6 percent to 1.8 trillion won.
For all of 2008, Hyosung posted a net profit of 136.3 billion won on sales of 6.9
trillion won.
