GARUDA AIMING TO EARN $13 M FROM CARGO SERVICES

Jakarta, Feb 18 (ANTARA) - National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has set itself the target of earning US$13 million from cargo services this year, up 15 percent from 2008 when the figure was US$11.3 million, its marketing director said.
"We are optimistic the target of US$13 million can be achieved in line with a breakthrough to improve the management of cargo services," Agus Priyanto said after the launch of Garuda cargo services "Go Product" here on Wednesday.
"Go Product" is the company's program aimed at ensuring secure and reliable cargo services, he said.
The program offers customers a wide range of cargo services, including inter-airport cargo services, exclusive package and document delivery services, and special delivery of goods in the form of machineries, animals and even hazardous chemicals, he said.
The new cargo services which will be launched in March 2009 offer the delivery of goods from Soekarno-Hatta airport to other 24 airports in the country, he said.
He said Garuda is looking into the possibility of serving the delivery of goods from domestic airports to international ones.
Last year, Garuda carried 410 tons of cargoes consisting of 210 tons of domestic cargoes and 200 tons of international cargoes.
With the "Go Product" program, the company's cargo services are projected to grow 15 percent this year, he said.
