Multi-billion baht rubies to be displayed during "World Ruby Forum 2017”

BANGKOK, Oct 8 (TNA) -- The rubies worth from more than three to five billion baht will be displayed in Bangkok during the ‘World Ruby Forum 2017’ in an attempt to make Thailand the hub of jewelry trade within 2021. Duangkamol Jiambutr, director of Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), said that stunning beautiful rubies in the world which recently won prizes from ‘The World Most Beautiful Ruby Awards’ will be displayed on November 4 during a meeting of the World Jewelry Confederation: CIBJO Congress 2017 which will be held at a Bangkok hotel between November 2-7. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to preside over the official opening ceremony of the meeting on November 6. As many as 400 traders in the industry worldwide are expected to attend the meeting. The GIT has also cooperated with several agencies including the International Trade Promotion Department and the Association of Gemmology for France in organising the World Ruby Forum, designed for further improving Thai jewelry and ornaments so that they can meet international standards.
