PM is satisfied with removal of ICAO’s red flag
BANGKOK, Oct 9 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said a representative of the International Civil Aviation Organization told him its red flag on Thailand had been lifted and Thai authorities’ work for this effect was national pride.
Arun Mishra, ICAO’s director for Asia and the Pacific, met Gen Prayut at Government House at 9.30am after the ICAO took off its red flag warning on Thailand on its official website.
Gen Prayut then told the press that Mr Arun informed him of the red flag removal meaning that Thailand did not pose any risk on aviation safety standard anymore.
The ICAO and the international community had confidence in the civil aviation of Thailand. The confidence covered Thai airlines and could turn the country into a regional aviation hub in the future, the prime minister said.
“I thank concerned organizations and airlines for cooperation. Of 28 airlines, 10 have yet to undergo standard registration processes within December. I also thank other countries including France, Britain, Japan and the European Union for their advice,” Gen Prayut said. (END)
