Thai team at 44th WorldSkills Competition pays tribute to HM late King

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, Oct 13 (TNA) -- The Thai team competing in the 44th WorldSkills Competition in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday observes a minute of silence in front of the event venue as a tribute to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The 26 Thai youths also lining up to form the Thai digit for the number “9” which represents the ninth king of the House of Chakri outside ADNEC exhibition centre in Abu Dhabi. They are representing Thailand in the WorldSkills Competition to compete in 24 skill categories during the 44th biennial event from October 14-19. Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Labor Ministry Achara Kaewgamchaicharoen said His Majesty late King Bhumibol had supported vocational skill development among Thai youths throughout his reign, through various royal projects. The tribute came one day before the first anniversary of the King’s death on Friday. She said the Thai team adopted the king’s guidance as a moral support for the competition. WorldSkills has been organized for exchange and comparison of world-class competency standards along with new technology’s multi-skilled occupations. (TNA)
