Foreign diplomats in Thailand visit Royal crematorium site
BANGKOK, Oct 13 (TNA) -- Bangkok-based envoys from 65 countries paid a visit to the site of the Royal crematorium at Sanam Luang on Wednesday to observe the preparations of the Royal Crematorium ceremonies for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The Ministry of Culture invited 170 diplomats and delegates to learn about the details of the ceremonies to be held in a span of five days in accordance with Thai royal ceremonies and traditions.
Culture Ministry officials and experts gave information about the ceremonies, the crematoriums and other delicate items to be used in the ceremonies.
They also learned of age-old customs for royal funerals that have been preserved for centuries.
The diplomats visited the National Museum and observed the construction of the Royal pyre, Royal Chariots and decorations related to the Royal Cremation.
Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat said the Ministry invited the diplomats to learn about the tradition of the Royal Cremation ceremonies. (TNA)
