Thailand takes home silver medal in world skills competition
ABU DHABI, Oct 20 (TNA) - Thailand won one silver medal and 12 medallions of excellence in the World Skills 2017, which was held in Abu Dhabi from Oct 15-18.
Nutcha Sae-ngo grabbed the silver medal in cooking and Thai team also won 12 medallions of excellence in various skill areas, including polymachanics and automation, mechatronics, CNC turning, CNC milling, welding, electrical installations, bricklaying, beauty therapy, floristry, fashion technology, restaurant service and refrigeration and air conditioning.
Silver winner received 200,000 baht and those, who got medallions of excellence, were awarded 50,000 baht each. They will be supported for further education or work.
About 1,300 talented young people competed in their chosen skills. The competition featured 51 skill areas, ranging from floristry to bricklaying; aircraft maintenance to mobile robotics.
Russia will host the next biennial Worldskills competition. Thailand will also host the ASEAN vocational skills competition in 2018. (TNA)
