PALU IMMIGRATION DEPORTS BRITON FOR OVERSTAYING

Palu, Central Sulawesi, Feb. 20 (ANTARA) - Yhe Palu Immigration Office has deported Michel Robert Alsok of Britain for violating Indonesia's immigration law.

"We sent the British national back to his home country today," Dewo Mardono, an official at the Palu Immigration office, said here on Friday.
Alsok who was working for a sand mining company in Donggala District, Central Sulawesi, had remained in the country although his visa had expired, Mardono said.
"Alsok had overstayed his visa by three months," he said.
In line with Indonesia's law, a foreigner violating the Immigration Law must be deported, he said.
"Alsok violated Law No. 9/1992," Mardono said.
Meanwhile, a Russian national identified as Alexander Aldrin (42) was arrested by Palu immigration officers on Wednesday (Feb. 18) also for overstaying and he would be deported soon, Mardono said.
"We have sent a letter to the Russian embassy in Jakarta, and hopefully there will be a clarification on his citizenship soon," he said.
Aldrin who speaks Indonesian said while staying in Palu, he worked in a field belonging to a local farmer at Kawatuna, East Palu subdistrict.
He entered Indonesia on a tourist visa. However, he ran out of money and could not afford extending his visa. He worked in a field to earn some money to support himself, he said.
