MALAYSIA DEPORTS 20 INDONESIAN WORKERS

Yoyakarta, Feb 20 (ANTARA) - A Malaysian company has sent back 20 Indonesian migrant workers to Indonesia as a result of the global economic crisis, a manpower official said.
"We have received a report from the manpower supplier company which had sent them to Malaysia that a total of 20 Indonesian workers had been sent back to Indonesia. They arrived at Adi Sutjipto airport here recently," Agus Santoso of the Manpower Service said here on Friday.
He said that of the 12 manpower supplier companies operating in Yoyakarta, only one, namely PT Timur, had submit a report on the repatriation of Indonesian workers from Malaysia.
"According to PT Timur, Malaysia is still going to repatriate another 101 Indonesian migrant workers," he said adding that all of the migrant workers the company had sent to Malaysia all worked in the formal sector, namely in electronics industry.
The reason for the repatriation is not having broken the law but a result of the world economic conditions that forced firms to lay off their employees.
Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dai Bachtiar said recently that about 300,000 Indonesian migrant workers are facing layoffs in Malaysia due to the on-going global economic recession.***2***
