PODSI Athletes To Join Trainings In Australia, Netherlands

JAKARTA, Oct 30 (Antara) - The training center organizer of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association (PODSI) has set an agenda for its athletes to undergo trainings in Australia and the Netherlands in 2018 to improve their performances in the Asian Games. "We will send a number of athletes to Australia in March 2018. They will undergo training and brief trial match," Budiman Setiawan, deputy general chairman of PODSI executive board told Antara here on Sunday. In addition to Australia, PODSI also planned to send a number of potential rowing boat athletes to the Netherlands in May next year ahead to the 2018 Asian Games which will be held in August. Indonesia will host the Asian Games from Aug 18 to Sept 2, 2018, which will be held in Jakarta and the South Sumatra capital city of Palembang. "The athletes will stay in the Netherlands for 20 days ahead of the Asian Games. We hope the condition of the athletes is still excellent in joining the Asian Games," he said. PODSI expressed optimism in facing the Asian Games after the national athletes grabbed a gold medal, two silver and two bronze medals in the Canoe Sprint Asia 2017 which took place in Shanghai, China from Oct. 15 to 18. Meanwhile, in the Asian Rowing Championships that took place in Pattaya, Thailand, from September 4 to 8, Indonesia achieved two gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals. In addition, PODSI will also hold an Asian Games trial championship for canoe boats and paddle boats in November and December 2017 in the sports area of Jakabaring in Palembang.
