Books about late Thai King become best sellers at National Book Fair 2017 in Bangkok

BANGKOK, October 30 (TNA) - Books, articles and songs written and composed by late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, together with books about royal stories, activities and projects written for a lasting remembrance of the late and beloved Thai monarch have become the best sellers at the latest National Book Fair in Bangkok. Suchada Sahasakul, President of the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT), told journalists of the information on Monday, proclaiming that the 22nd National Book Fair, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in the capital during October 18-29, were successful more than earlier expectation. Suchada said books on the Royal Instructions and the Royal Crematorium of the late and revered Thai monarch were also the best sellers during the recent 12-day National Book Fair, followed by those about teenagers. Suchada noted that the 22nd National Book Fair attracted about 1.8 million visitors, generating a total revenue of over 600 million baht, about a 10 per cent increase from the 21st National Book Fair. More than one million selected books from 389 publishing houses were on public display and sold at 939 booths inside the 12-day National Book Fair, themed "Memory" The late His Majesty used to suggest that books are like knowledge banks which truely support humans' progressive development and this year's National Book Fair was aimed to demonstrate the late His Majesty's talents and competency in literary works through books, articles and songs authored and composed by the late and beloved Thai King himself.
