Yingluck’s Thai passports revoked

BANGKOK, Oct 30 (TNA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that four Thai passports of fugitive ex-PM Yingluck Shinawatra, who was sentenced to five years in prison in absentia for mishandling a rice subsidy scheme, were revoked. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bussadee Santipitaks said the ministry advised Thai embassies overseas on the revocation of Yingluck’s four passports, including two diplomatic passports and two ordinary passports. The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders convicted her in absentia and handed down five-year jail terms on September 27 for negligence in preventing corruption in the rice-pledging scheme. She failed to show up for the court’s ruling and her deadline to appeal expired on Friday. (TNA)
