Tour d'Indonesia 2018 To Start From Borobudur Temple
JAKARTA, Nov 2 (Antara) - Tour d'Indonesia (TdI) 2018, the most prestigious cycling championship, will be held from January 24 to 28 and will start from the Borobudur Temple area in Central Java instead of Jakarta as before.
General Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Cycling Association (PB ISSI) Raja Sapta Oktohari made the remarks here on Wednesday, adding that preparations for the championship that has been vacuum since 2011 has been running, including the checking of routes to be passed.
"We make sure TDI level is up from the previous 2.2 to 2.1. Obviously it has a striking difference compared to other international races in Indonesia today," he explained.
According to him, in order to organize the championship level 2.1 for the first time in Indonesia, his side is very serious to process the event.
"We have difficulties and it is almost impossible to start from Jakarta. What is clear, the number of stage still likely to change. There are plans to finish in Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara)," Okto said.
According to him, the first of four stages will start from Borobudur-Selo-Solo-Karanganyar-Cemoro Kandang-Sarangan Temple and finish in Madiun. Stage two from Madiun-Jombang-Pare-Pujon-Batu-Malang and finish in Taman Dayu or Prigen.
After that the participants will be transferred to Probolinggo and continued the trip to Jember-Mount Kumitir and finish in Banyuwangi. Stage four is from Gilimanuk-Singaraja-Bedugul and finish at Puputan Badung Bali Square.
As many as 20 teams will compete at the cycling event.
