Thailand is ready to cooperate with Saudi Arabia develop renewable energy
BANGKOK, Nov 3 (TNA) -- Saudi Arabia is welcoming foreign investors to develop renewable energy in its country and many Thai companies have the potential to do so, according to the Thai energy minister.
The stance came from a bilateral talk between Thai Energy Minister Anantaporn Kanjanarat and Khalid Al Falih, Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, during the 7th ASIAN Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER) at the hotel. The meeting was set on Nov 1-3.
Gen Anantaporn said the Saudi Arabian minister saw Thailand’s potential in renewable energy and energy saving and Saudi Arabia was reforming its energy sector because its economy was depending much on global oil prices. Renewable energy was a sector that Saudi Arabia planned to develop and it was inviting foreign investors to cooperate in the matter, Gen Anantaporn said.
He commented that many Thai companies including PTT were ready to respond to the interest of Saudi Arabia.
The energy minister also said he asked Saudi Arabia to refine its oil in Thailand and the Saudi Arabian minister agreed to organise discussions on the matter. (TNA)
