EARTHQUAKE JOLTS SAUMLAKI, MALUKU, SUNDAY

Jakarta, Feb. 22 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Saumlaki, Maluku Province, on Sunday at 10.08 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

The quake's epicenter was located at 6.72 degrees southern latitude and 129.50 degrees eastern longitude, around 245 km northwest of Saumlaki, Maluku, at a depth of 136 km below sea level.
On Saturday evening, two earthquakes measuring respectively 5.5 and 5.3 on the Richter scale shook the eastern Indonesian town of Manokwari, Papua Province.
A powerful earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale shook Manokwari on January 4, 2009, leaving four people dead, several others injured, and dozens of buildings damaged.
