Khatib of Al Aqsa Mosque appeals Muslim organizations to save
Rama Allah, February 22, SPA -- Sheikh Dr.Yusuf Juma Salamah, the
Khatib of the Holy Mosque of Al Aqsa as well as First Deputy Chairman
of the Supreme Islamic Authority in Al Quds appealed Sunday to the
Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), The AlQuds Commission, the
Muslim World League (MWL) and the League of Arab States (Arab League)
on the dire need to move fast and effectively to save the Al-Aqsa
mosque and to stop the Israeli aggression and attacks on the city of
Jerusalem.
Sheikh Salamah denounced the Israeli decision of the conversion
of 88 houses of the Al Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan to a
public park noting that this decision will result in the unjust
deportation of nearly 1,500 Palestinian citizens from the town of
Silwan in East Jerusalem.
In a statement issued today, he said that the Israeli occupation
authorities are aiming to bring about demographic changes in the holy
city, engage in deporting Palestinians, confiscating their property,
and working to increase the number of Jewish settlers in the city to
nearly one million Jewish settlers during the next ten years.
Dr. Salamah held Israeli government responsible for those dangerous
acts, warning that this would lead to serious consequences. He said
no one can predict the results, noting that the subversion of the
Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa is ravaging the Islamic doctrine of all
Muslims around the world.
