DRILLING OF SUKOWATI 10 OIL WELL NEEDS ANOTHER WEEK

Bojonegoro, Feb 23 (ANTARA)- Drilling of the Sukowati 10 oil well in Ngampel, Kapas subdistrict, Bojonegoro, East Java, managed by the Pertamina-Petrochina Joint Operating Body (JOB) of East Java, is scheduled for completion in another week.

"Of the projected drilling depth of 7,500 feet, 7,300 feet had already been drilled," JOB Field Manager of PPEJV Victory S. Kirana said on Sunday.
To reach a depth of 7,500 feet would need another week. He believed that in this depth, the Sukowati 10 oil well will produce some 2,500 barrels of oil per day.
He said one of the indications that the Sukowati 10 oil well at that depth will produce oil was that a gas kick was once felt from inside the well.
But the gas kick was relatively small, and could be overcome satisfactorily. But if there would be another gas kick during the drilling, the company was ready to deal with it.
"We have the standard operational procedures (SOP)," he said.
In the meantime, answering a question on what happened to the Sukowati 9 oil well at pad A Campurejo, Kota subdistrict now, whose drilling had already been completed in December last year, he said further intensified efforts were being made to enable the well to produce oil.
One of the efforts was using a pump, but the result was still unsatisfactory. Besides, the management was still conducting a technical study the result of which would be applied to further efforts.
He also said that the Sukowati 4 oil well was in the beginning also not producing oil. But intensified and detailed study revealed that there has been a wrong direction in the formation of the drilling, so that when drilling was made in a different direction, oil was produced.
The completion of drilling of Sukowati 10 will be followed by drilling of Sukowati 11 which is also located at pad B in Ngampel,Kapas subdistrict.
