EARTHQUAKE JOLTS NORTH SULAWESI ON MONDAY
Jakarta, Feb. 23 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted Melonguane, North Sulawesi, on Monday at 00:45 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake's epicenter was located at 3.54 degrees northern latitude and 126.71 degrees eastern longitude, around 125 km southeast of Melonguane, at a depth of 10 km below sea level, according to information of the national meteorological and geophysics office (BMG) here on Monday.
The temblor did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, the BMG said.
On Sunday (Feb. 22), a 5.4-magnitude earthquake shook the southeastern parts of Melonguane.
The quake's epicenter was located at 3.67 degrees northern latitude and 126.87 degrees eastern longitude, around 137 km southeast of Melonguane, at a depth of 62 km below sea level.
