Manama, Nov. 27 (BNA): His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, the Sultan of the State and Territory of Johor Darul Ta'zim in Malaysia, today paid a visit to the Interior Ministry.
Upon his arrival, HM the Sultan was saluted by the honour guard; then HM procession moved to the main stage of the Police Fort. He was received by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in which the Police Band performed the national anthem of the State of Johor.
After Quran reciting, a parade performed and the participants saluted HM the Sultan. The parade was followed with exercises that showed the competency, discipline and high performance of the participating forces. Then the national anthem of State of Johor was performed and after the departure of the flag group, HM the Sultan accompanied with HH Personel Representative of HM the King and HH Interior Minister went inside the Police Fort and then to the Court’s Majlis, in which HE Interior Minister delivered the following speech:
It is a great pleasure to welcome Your Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni AlMarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor, and on behalf of all the personnel of the Ministry of Interior, may I say how happy we are that Your Majesty had joined us here today, in the presence of HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of HM the King.
Our surroundings, here in the Police Fort in Manama, reflect the long and distinguished history of Bahrain’s police – established almost a century ago in 1919, and considered one of the oldest government institutions in the Kingdom. Indeed, Bahrain has long been a pioneer in establishing and developing modern state institutions, with this Ministry in the vanguard of the process.
The process has developed rapidly during the reign of HM the King, with Bahrain today considered to be a beacon of reform and modernisation. Over the past decade and a half, the reform process initiated and led by HM the King had brought ground-breaking political, economic and social development.
And this Ministry has been at the forefront of these developments. From our Community Police Service, established in 2004 and staffed by local community recruits from all parts of society, to the courage and bravery of our personnel, to our internationally-recognised transparency and oversight mechanisms- the Ministry of Interior has always shown itself to be a pioneer of effective, transparent, responsive and accountable service. We will continue to develop in line with the latest best practice and the security of our country and society.
And we recognise that evolving global security challenges are not confined to a single country or region and that an effective response to these challenges requires genuine international cooperation. You can, therefore, be assured that we in the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Bahrain are committed to extending and strengthening our security cooperation with friends and allies across the world to ensure a better future for all our nations and people.
It is a great privilege to welcome Your Majesty here today, and I know I speak for all Ministry of Interior personnel in expressing our sincere appreciation for this visit, and in wishing Your Majesty a pleasant, constructive and successful visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
After that the Interior Minister presented HM the Sultan with a memorial gift and then HM procession departed the Interior Ministry
