Commerce Ministry destroys melamine tainted milk products

Riyadh, February 23, SPA -- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry
issued a statement here today saying that, "based on the results of
the examination and analysis of samples of Chinese food products,
including dairy products which had been seized earlier have proved
that these were contaminated with harmful melamine. "As such,
2,142,470 kilograms of melamine tainted products were destroyed".


The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in a statement today said that
this action comes after the contamination was discovered in Chinese
food products, including milk products.


The statement added that the ministry in coordination with Food and
Drug Authority had withdrawn samples of Chinese milk products and
subjected all Chinese baby-formula products to examination and
analysis in specialized laboratories to ensure the availability of
melamine free products.
