HOUSE SPEAKER: SBY-JK RELATIONS REMAIN HARMONIOUS

Manado, Feb 23 (ANTARA) - House Speaker Agung Laksono said here on Monday that the relations between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) were still harmonious and not affected by current political problems.

"SBY and JK personally met each other recently and stated that their duet in the state administration would be maintained until the end of their term of office," Laksono, who is also Golkar Party deputy general chairman, said on the sidelines of the opening of a regional party coordination meeting.

The meeting was a form of statesmanship shown by SBY and JK and held for the sake of the country's future to avoid any harm on each other.

Agung said the relationship between the two would be maintained until the end of their term of office with regard to avoiding negative problems of administration or stagnation in the state administration that had been carried out since 2004.

On Golkar Party's presidential and vice presidential candidates, Agung said it would be determined after the implementation of the legislative election on April 9.

He admitted that a number of Golkar executive boards at provincial and district levels had supported the nomination of JK who is also Golkar general chairman as the party's presidential candidate.

He said Golkar's current main program was how to win 30 percent of the votes in the upcoming legislative election, as the party's target. SBY who is also chief adviser of the Democrat Party plans to seek a re-election in the presidential election in July.
