Househusband wins TV quiz championship
SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Yonhap) -- A 44-year-old househusband who quit his career two
years ago to look after his ailing daughter became the champion of a popular
television quiz show, program officials said Tuesday.
Kang Yo-seong, a resident of Seoul, won a prize of 43 million won (US$28,000)
after outscoring five other competitors on KBS TV's "Quiz Korea" program that
will be aired on Sunday, said the officials.
Kang said he has stayed at home to take care of his 14-year-old daughter who
suffers from aplastic anemia, a form of serious anemia, since his resignation
from a medical equipment maker in 2007.
He said that he wanted to encourage his daughter and wife, who is working at a
school as a dietician to run the household economy instead of him.
"His daughter came to the studio to cheer her father up together with her mother
even though she is still in a serious condition after a bone marrow transplant
last year," one staff member of the show said.
