Workers make holes in the ice on Hwacheon Stream in the mountainous town of the same name 120 kilometers northeast of Seoul, on Jan. 2, 2018, four days ahead of the opening of a festival featuring the fishing of "sancheoneo," a special kind of trout. The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, which will run through Jan. 28, is expected to draw more than a million visitors to drop lines through holes in the ice and catch sancheoneo, which are known to live only in high-quality fresh water.
