LANDSLIDE KILLS COUPLE IN CENTRAL SULAWESI
Palu, Central Sulawesi, Feb. 25 (ANTARA) - A landslide killed Iba (30) and his wife, Tina (20), at Kaliburu village, Sindue Tambusabora sub-district, Donggala District, Central Sulawesi Province, on Tuesday.
They were just married three months ago, Madjid Yunus of the Donggala disaster mitigation office said.
"The evacuation efforts of the two bodies are hampered by bad weather," Yunus said.
In addition to the two fatalities, the landslide also seriously damaged nine houses.
Fifty residents were forced to flee their houses and being accommodated at the village hall due to the landslide, which was coincided with strong wind and rough waves.
Yunus said that illegal logging activities in the village had triggered the landslide.
