NHRA, DME sign equipment safety agreement

Manama, Jan. 9 (BNA): The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) said it has signed a contract with DME – a specialized medical equipment safety testing company - to examine and ensure the safety and quality of medical and surgical equipment. The agreement was signed to achieve the NHRA vision to boost the standards of professional health services and to ensure the provision of reliable, safe, sustainable high quality services to the public and verify the compliance of equipment with accredited international standards, according to NHRA’s Executive President Dr. Maryam Al Jalahma. This agreement will prevent the importation of any fake consignments that might cause devastating damage whenever used in precision procedures and to ensure the equipment safety compatibility with national and international standards, she added. Dr. Al Jalahma said that the agreement will help in properly dealing with medical equipment to ensure the safety of patients and manage them in the right way in accordance with highest specifications and standards. The NHRA chief executive affirmed that the National Health Regulatory Authority attaches considerable importance to quality health services in compliance with the directives of the Kingdom’s leadership to ensure the maximum safety and security of patients and beneficiaries of Bahrain’s health facilities. Within this context, the quality and safety of medical products is always tested to ensure their compliance with the rules and the principles of quality control applicable internationally on all medical products imported or used in Bahrain’s health institutions to ensure the quality and safety of health services provided in our beloved Kingdom and to keep abreast of latest developments in this field.
