IRNA for expansion of media ties with Indonesia: News deputy

Tehran, Jan 22, IRNA – The Islamic Republic News Agency's (IRNA) deputy managing director for news on Monday welcomed expansion of professional cooperation with Indonesian mass media. Yazdan Haqqi made the remarks in a meeting with a visiting Indonesian media delegation in IRNA central office in Tehran. Referring to the phenomenon of one-way flow of news in the world, he said, 'The networks and press of the powerful countries publish the global events as they wish and depict a flawed or misleading picture of other countries.' Comparing media's performance to a mirror, Haqqi said, 'Through cooperation, media can present the facts as they are.' He referred to historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and Indonesia and expressed hope that the visit of the media delegation can start expansion of media ties between the two countries. The Indonesian team which is invited by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance also toured IRNA newsroom. 1378/IRNA
