NCI holds meeting on following up sustainable development goals

Manama, Jan. 31 (BNA): Cabinet Affairs Minister, Chairman of the National Commission for Informatics (NCI), Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa’, today chaired a meeting of the Commission’s Executive Office.
Al Mutawa’ stressed the government’s interest in implementing the objectives behind the establishment of the NCI, including overseeing the provision of updated comprehensive information about Bahrain to benefit global organisations and research institutions.
He pointed out Bahrain’s endeavour to promote the comprehensive development efforts in various fields to promote its regional and global standing.
The meeting reviewed the Executive Office’s mission regarding following up the sustainable development goals and the establishment of a comprehensive national database comprising updated data on Bahrain's accession to international treaties and its relations with other countries.
It also reviewed a mechanism for the preparation of economic statistics and updating the Statistics Law. In addition, it discussed the progress of the preparation of the voluntary national report on sustainable development to be submitted in July 2018 to the UN Economic and Social Council, which will showcase Bahrain’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals.
During the meeting, the National Health Survey Project was also reviewed, which will be implemented in conformity with mechanisms set out by the World Health Organization.
The meeting was also attended by members of the NCI Executive Office, including Foreign Affairs Undersecretary, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for International Affairs, Vice President of Census and Population Register of the e-Government, in addition to a number of officials of competent authorities.
