Schoolchildren Counseled On Porn Prevention

JAKARTA, Feb 8 (Antara) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has provided counseling on the prevention of pornography to a number of students in schools, colleges, and within the community. "We all understand that the progress of time is inevitable and should be well anticipated. Therefore, we came to a number of schools to familiarize and promote pornography prevention," Ministry's Head of Social Counseling Center Tati Nugrahati remarked here on Wednesday. The familiarization about pornography was conducted among other things at the 154 State Secondary School (SMPN 154) in the form of counseling and group discussion with games, as well as joint pledge to to stay away from pornography. To prevent pornographic activities, the students were also encouraged to utilize social media to gain positive things and useful knowledge for them in the future. Nugrahati said the counseling was conducted in cooperation with the Indonesian Committee for the Handling of Pornography and Porno-action, Movement Not Naked in front of Camera Movement, and Pornography Prevention Task Force. Data from Tetra Pak I dex 2017 recorded that in Indonesia there are 132 million internet users and almost 80 percent are active users of social media. Looking at the data in the world in 2018, Indonesia ranked sixth out of 25 countries as internet users. So there should be counseling to the school students and society so that they can wisely use the social media and not to abuse to negative things. "We understand that elementary to high school age children are vulnerable to pornography so that we start the counseling from the school environment," Nugrahati said.
