Limkokwing University To Showcase Traditional And Cultural Diversity In London Fashion Week 2018

CYBERJAYA, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- Limkokwing University of Creativity Technology will showcase world's traditional and cultural diversity at the London Fashion Week 2018, one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world at Freemasons Hall on February 18. Its Vice President of Brand, Creativity and Talent Development Tiffanee Marie Lim said the university had selected 'Date Night' as the theme, and the 45 outfit collection would reflect mixed experience of a cool, romantic, hip and attitude that couples in Asia and Africa possess on a date night out. She said the design team consisted of 50 students and the university's staff found inspirations for their global fabric collections through a creative journey carried out to 20 countries, which included Botswana, Swaziland, Kenya, Iran, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, China, India and Borneo. "The designers went to these countries to search for the most inspiring traditional and cultural ideas, related to students’ lifestyle in three months. Our collection is not the usual ones, but was created with a special touch of uniqueness to express a feeling of romance and love through costume. "Fashions arise from traditions and that do not go out of vogue when the seasons change which young generation would wear with diverse background," she told a press conference to announce Limkokwing University as the only Malaysian and Asian university participating in London Fashion Week 2018. Meanwhile, Limkokwing Fashion Club Head Fashion Designer Pedram Mirsadeghi said the process of brainstorming and briefing with some 300 fashion students started since last September. "We received numerous ideas and feedback, and travelled across the world with students to search for the most unique local fabrics. In mid-November, we started to put together our design and started to make the clothing in December. "Our collection is not what any normal fashion house would have. Usually they play with one culture and create the outfits from there. Here at Limkokwing, we have blended more than 165 countries’ tradition and culture in one showcase.
