PRESIDENT HOLDS TELECONFERENCE WITH AL-QODIRI BOARDING SCHOOL CHIEF
Jember, East Java, Feb. 27 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Jakarta on Thursday evening held a teleconference with Achmad Muzaki Syah, chief of the Al-Qodiri Islamic boarding school, and Communication and Informatics Minister Mohammad Nuh, in Jember, East Java Province.
In Jakarta, the President was accompanied among others by Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari, Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa, Cabinet Secretary Sudi Silalahi, and Transportation Minister Yusman Syafii.
The teleconference was held coinciding with a prayer gathering which was attended by hundreds of thousands of people from Jember and other cities.
"I am glad that I can hold this video conference with thousands of people gathering at Al-Qadiri Islamic boarding school who will pray for this nation," the head of state said.
He asked the audience to help make the upcoming General Elections a success by giving votes to trust-worthy legislative and presidential candidates.
"Please use your votes properly in the upcoming General Elections," Yudhoyono said.
Indonesia will hold a legislative election on April 9, 2009, and a direct presidential election on July 8 this year.
The head of state also asked the audience to pray for the well-being and prosperity of the nation.
